hi cynthia,
i’ve already emailed fastcardtech about when the HDC Galaxy S3 i9300 EX will be in stock, i’ll also email you as soon as i get a response.

Vincent on October 31, 2012 at 9:04 am.

hi cynthia
unfortunately fastcardtech don’t know when the hdc i9300 ex would be available.
you can check it from time to time when it would be available or you could check other similarly spec phones.

hello johan,

im using this phone, i just bought it recently, the phone is 4gb rom (internal storage) but 1.9 gb is used by the Operating system alone, so whats left is 2.16 gb free

MTK6588 is a quad core phone, if your looking for a phone optimized for gaming, you can look at nvidia tegra 3.

best regards,

Hi, Vincent, how are you?

I bougth this phone too in Fastcardtech. I had a problem with the phone (don’t start) and I tried to solve with Technical Suppor from Fastcardtech, but they said to me that I need to send the phone to them. I was looking for a solution in Internet to avoid to send my phone to China and I found a ROM to fix my phone. I download it and the phone is working again but with some problems. The ROM was labeled as HDC, but when installed, the phone properties says Star B92m, so I guess if can be any differents between HDC y Star.

Please, could you help me downloading the completing ROM from your phone to dropbox or similar? Thank you.

i experienced the same problem before wherein the phone doesnt start, but i just use another battery and it worked. did you ever try it?
unfortunately fastcardtech has a back log today because of their chinese new year and is opt to return on feb. 18.
what seems to be the problem with your new ROM?

Best Regards,

Hello, Vincent, thank you very much for your quick response. Let me write the full story for you:

I bought this phone on December 7, 2012 and received it on January 3, 2013 without any problems.

I turned it on as it comes in the box with no SIM card or SD inserted and everything worked great, the interface and default applications installed running very fast, camera, great, the screen is perfect, so I was very happy with the purchase.

I turned it off, removed the battery and put my SIM and SD Card 32 Mb. I turned on without problems and tried to make a call: everything perfect. I left it on the table for a moment and the screen goes automatically shut off. When picked up again and press the HOME button, the entire screen is filled with random colored pixels and the phone resets itself.

When I try to turn it on again, the Android’s doll appears (as usual), changes to Android logo letters and makes the characteristic sound and the logo shines. That’s all, the phone keeps as starting, but never starts (I left it for an hour and more).

I try to get out the SIM and SD cards thinking that have caused the problem, but nothing. Looking for in Internet and find that you can retrieve the telephone system pressing the power button and the volume + at same time during a few seconds at startup: bad idea, I get an Android’s doll lying with a red triangle above.

I write to Fastcardtech Technical Service and they tell me to send the phone back to China for repair or replacement: $20 to send it and another $20 for get back, plus 1 or 2 months of having the phone traveling with the risk of losing it in any customs. I rewrite them to clarify some details on how to send and they respond me with the same answer as the first time, so I think that is an automatic process that always says the same text.

I search in forums and find one related to Fastcardtech (www.talkingmobi.com) that has a section called “ROM Downloads” where I find my phone model. I download it and my first surprise is that when I open the ZIP, it says “b92m” instead of “HDC Galaxy S3 EX”. New Internet search informed me that both models are equivalent, so I install this ROM on my phone (it comes with the SP_Flash_Tool).

I turn on the phone again … and everything works again perfectly. The first negative point is that I go into “About phone” and says that my phone is a B92 instead of a HDC, apart from that, everything is working fine: camera, screen, Wi-Fi …

The second negative is that I have some issues with GPS and 3G, but I’m waiting to travel to Spain (where I came from) to test this and discard a phone malfunction becasue right now I’m in Honduras and can be a frecuency or band problem.

Other negative point is that I visit Fastcardtech web and I see that there is an updated version 4.1.2 of my phone when I bought mine a month ago with 4.0.4 version.

My overall assessment is that Fastcardtech has very good products but a bit chaotic after-sales service (not to call it bad). Will I buy here? I would say yes because I like their products (I’m looking for a Quad Core), but I’m not sure until I get a good response to my problems.

Considering the above, I would ask if you would be so kind as to download the original ROM your phone in order to test if that eliminates my problems.

Thanks for reading this “huge” text. Kind Regards.

did you ask fastcardtech on their tech@fastcardtech.com? that is their support service line.
The features of the HDC and Star B92M seems similar i think.
For quad Cores’ the best i can recommend is a GOOD NAME BRAND PHONE like Huawei and ZTE because they are the leading brand for smartphones in china
ZTE U950 i think is the cheapest quad core smartphone available right now, although, there are still upcoming phones such as Jiayu G5, etc… it seems quad core phones are still limited
I been looking for a better alternative from my phone (HDC Galaxy S3 i9300 EX) but quad core seems a bit too pricy right now. although i might consider Huawei and ZTE because of their names.
In terms of service, fastcardtech respond readily to request and such, the only problem is that language barrier or misunderstanding commonly occurs. believe me, ive experienced quite a few.
But i would still buy from them, i’ve got all my gadgets from them and all are still working fine.
about the GPS (http://www.chinasmartphonereview.com/fix-gps-questions-from-fastcardtech/) this link might help.
unfortunately sir i don’t have the original ROM of my phone, (could you ask tech@fastcardtech.com for it?) sorry for the bad news

best regards,
