Recently, there have been plenty of HTC ONE knock offs and the HDC ONE S6 is certainly one of them. Sporting a snappy MediaTek MT6589T processor with a maximum clock speed of 1.5 GHz and a 720p HD Display, the device is able to deliver impressive performance specially for its price. Antutu synthetic benchmarks (tool use to gauge theoretical performance of a device) results reveal a score of 16000 points which is impressive for a midrange and budget device. Also comes with Android 4.2.1 Jellybean and support for multiple languages. The device also supports up to 32 GB of extended storage via Micro SD Support.
The Specifications and hardware seems to be similar with iHTC ONE Plus, is this a rebranding again? Probably, Although it is definitely faster than the previous released HDC ONE HX9229A, and marginally faster than Cubot One (although it features a removable back cover).
The HDC ONE S6 is equipped with a 5.0 inch IPS (In panel switching) with a resolution of 1280 x 720p and roughly 312 ppi (pixel per inch). Although a 1080p or FHD (Full High Definition) display certainly would have been better, it’s enough for modest users. More so, an FHD display would be a welcome site, especially that it has grown and people want more ump in their phones.
The HDC One S6 sports a 13 megapixel rear camera with Flash and a 5.0 megapixel front camera. Although it may sound amazing, it’s quite a common practice of china phones especially knock offs to interpolate pixels. Usually, performance is within the line of other 8.0 megapixel phones.
Supports Dual Sim with one sim exclusive for 2G Network that works on worldwide frequencies of GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz which allows for call, texts and internet up to gprs and edge. Another Sim support for 3G via WCDMA 850/2100MHz, the 2nd sim slot does support both call and text as well as data support for up to HSPA or HSPA+ speeds.
Unfortunately, 4G or LTE Support is non existent and data connection is limited to 3G, but you should make sure that your area supports the 3G Frequencies.
Looking at a distance, it really looks like HTC ONE, the distinct look, design as well as ergonomics seems be head on. However, closer inspection would reveal materials are mostly plastic. More so, the phone also employs a replaceable battery. Dimensions of the phone reveal 143 x 73 x 8.9 mm and weights roughly 152 g. As you can see, there is no aluminum back cover, it’s made of glossy plastic. Ports include support for micro USB 2.0, 3.5 mm headphone jack
With only a 2000mAh built-in battery, which is fairly average on today’s standard use. More likely, you’ll be taking advantage of the extra horsepower of the phone on some heavy applications, games and other multimedia. A much bigger battery would have been welcome.
No 4G or LTE Support
Very Similar to the iHTC ONE Plus
No Support for Air Gesture, Air View and Smart Stay
There have been plenty of HTC ONE look a likes, the iHTC ONE Plus offers the same CPU plus it comes with an FHD display, the first ONE clone was the HDC ONE HX9229A which has roughly the same overall specs, is this dejavu? Because I feel that this had been done before, HDC is notoriously quick to release new clones and it can be confusing how an assembly of phones came to be.
One the bright side, the HDC ONE S6 does offer a faster processor (MT6589T). Although we would have loved a FHD or 1080p Display and a better battery. Furthermore, you might want to check the iHTC ONE Plus, it seems to be similarly priced as well as specs.
FHD phones are clearly a way to go, the NEO N003T one of the cheapest FHD capable phones available today. Along with iOcean X7 plus, and Zopo C2 Platinum etc… and with prices going down fast, clearly a better deal.
