Huawei Honor 6x – Budget Bokeh

Huawei’s latest budget midranger boasts dual Rear cameras and is capable of doing “Bokeh”. It also advertises 2 days battery life and Premium build quality.

For those not familiar with the term “Bokeh”, it is a Japanese term which means blur, wherein a subject is focused and the background is blurred. This is actually not the first phone to have it. The Xiaomi Redmi Pro, also offers this feature and I think the functions and features are about the same.

The Huawei Honor 6x succeeds the 5x, also a budget phone last year. The 6x best selling features is probably the Dual Camera Feature capable of Bokeh, and also the 2 day battery life it advertises. The Dual Camera Feature, a main 12 mp shooter and 2.0 mp secondary camera that allows depth of field adjustments (Bokeh). Identical I think to the Xiaomi Redmi Pro. Pro or Manual mode is also available and allows more options or adjustment.

Pros:

  • Dual Camera feature works perfectly
  • Capable of 0.95 – f/16 Aperture for that incredible Bokeh
  • PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus)
  • 77 degrees Wide Angle lens (Front Camera)
  • Premium build (All aluminum unibody design)
  • Kirin 655 offers good overall performance (Antutu score 56,802 points) similar to the Snapdragon 625
  • 3/4 GB RAM and 32/64 GB eMMC Storage
  • Bright display (450 nits and very usable on direct sunlight)
  • Good Call Quality

  • CPU is slower than the Snapdragon 650 or Helio X25. It is closer to the Snapdragon 625
