The Lenovo P2 is lighter and smaller, and thus is pocket friendly. It is also much easier to use one handed.
More streamlined and Ergonomic
If you ask me, which has better in terms of design and build quality. The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 looks better and a bit more polished. I mean, it has better ergonomics with smooth curves that makes the phone a bit better to hold. The Lenovo P2 design is a bit old fashion but it is still well made and premium.
Unfortunately, one issue I can say with the Xiaomi Mi Max 2, that it is slippery. So, please be careful when holding it.
If you want better image and contrast, the SUPER AMOLED display of the Lenovo P2 is the better choice, the colors are more vibrant and deeper contrast. Nevertheless, the 1080p screen of the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is still pretty good but it appears to be stretched out due to the giant 6.4 inch size.
On Screen Navigation keys on the Lenovo P2
The On screen Navigation takes up screen real estate on the Lenovo P2, compared to the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 where, you have the whole 6.4 inch screen available to you.
Front Touch ID versus Rear Fingerprint ID
The Lenovo P2 has Front Touch ID embedded on the Home Key. The Xiaomi Max 2 on the other hand is at the back. Performance on both of these are very good and highly accurate.
Snapdragon 625 and Adreno 506 Chipsets
Both of these Smartphones offer the same efficient Chipset. And when it comes to performance, both have the same performance that includes benchmark scores. On gaming, performance is about the same, both of these phones run fine on 3D heavy games like Mortal Combat X, Modern Strike, Modern Combat 5 and Asphalt 8.
Performance is about the same for both of these handsets, It also handles multitasking quite well and no slowdowns. The 4 GB RAM is enough to handle for most casual uses.
Vibe UI versus MIUI
The Lenovo P2 has recently been updated to Android 7.0 Nougat and offers improvements in performance. It has minimalistic UI, stable and fast. It also comes with only a few OS bloatwares preinstalled and comes with App Draw which is a big advantage. The UI itself is customized but is still offers native Android 7.0 Features and easy to navigate
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has MIUI system and it also has been updated to the newest MIUI 8.5. It is also fast, stable and gorgeous, perhaps the best looking UI available. Although we all know it looks like iOS, which is probably the reason why it looks good. It only comes with a few bloatwares, but unfortunately, it doesn’t have App Draw.
Even though both have the same Idle Temps (around 32-34°C), on heavy use or gaming the temps are quite different. Xiaomi Mi Max 2 maintains cool temps even on heavy use and can survive prolong gaming without getting hot. The Lenovo p2 on the other hand, temps quickly rose to around 50-65°, and that is just on 10 mins game testing. On prolong gaming, you can feel the back of the phone warming up.
Probably the reason why the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 runs cooler is the bigger size offers better heat dissipation. But that is just my assumption.
Who has the better camera?
No question, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is a lot better, I still dunno what kind of sensor is used on the Lenovo P2. The 12 mp Sony IMX386 CMOS sensor (Same sensor used with the Xiaomi Mi 6) of the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 offers better contrast and image quality especially on low light. The Lenovo P2 camera is a 13 mp shooter and is still good enough on very good lighting.
Probably the biggest advantage of the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 camera is its much faster capturing of photos, with almost no delay. The Lenovo P2 has a bit of delay on it. But the camera UI is much easier and offers Smart Scene Select, that allows the sensor to choose the best shooting mode.
Low light shots are not recommended on both of these phones, however, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has better low light performance.
4K Video with No OIS
Both of the camera sensors offers 4K video but no IS (Image Stabilization). I still think the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 video quality is superior, and it rarely does have that breathing or focus seeking effect, which is very noticeable on the Lenovo P2.
Both of these handsets offer very good Dual Band WiFi Performance with fast and Stable Connectivity. In addition, the Lenovo P2 supports NFC.
Who has longer Battery Life?
The Lenovo P2 comes with 5100mAh battery, meanwhile the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 with a slightly larger 5300mAh. When it comes to Endurance, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is superior in this area, not just because of the larger battery but also because of efficiency. On casual use, like web browsing via WiFi or 4G LTE, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 last a lot longer, also it runs cool and rarely do you feel it warm up. The Lenovo P2 on the other hand, I noticed it drains the battery much faster on casual use.
On gaming, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 still has much better battery endurance, and also because it doesn’t heat up quickly, the battery life is much better. Prolong gaming on the Lenovo P2 is possible but you can feel it get hot by then.
