OnePlus 5T Review – the best Flagship with 18:9 Screen?

Hello everyone, this is now my full review of the OnePlus 5T, which I have been using for about a month. And I think it is one of the best Flagship to ever come out of 2017. Not only is it fast and gorgeous but also offers one of the fastest Face ID unlock available on a Smartphone.

Still one of the best looking Flagship of 2017

The Good:

  • Blistering Fast Performance
  • 18:9 Super Amoled Screen is gorgeous
  • Face ID unlock is amazingly quick
  • Oxygen OS already on Android 8

The Bad:

  • Could have added a bit more shooting modes for more options
  • Low light performance is good but not really impressive
  • 4K can only shoot up to 10 minutes at a time

You get what you paid for

The OnePlus 5T is indeed not a cheap smartphone but you get every bit of it. It is gorgeous, fast, has an impressive camera and comes with a reliable Face ID unlocking that can compete probably with the iPhone X. Despite it only having a 1080p screen, it doesn’t bother me, as it complements well the screen and it comes with a high quality Super AMOLED screen that is probably one of the best screen that I’ve tested so far.

Fans of Oxygen OS will get even more excited as Android 8.0 Oreo is already available for update. Anyway, the overall system performance is fast, stable with no signs of slowing down or issues. Probably the only comment I can say is with regards to the price, it is still pricey but you will never regret having it one bit. It is one of my top recommended Smartphone of 2017-2018.

Pros:

  • Premium build Quality, High Grade Materials
  • It still has 3.5mm Audio (Clean with impressive Audio Quality)
  • Loudspeakers offers good volume levels with crisp sounds and clear bass (above average audio quality)
  • Alert Slider allows easy access to ringing modes
  • Blisteringly fast Chipset (Snapdragon 835 and Adreno 540), overkill for gaming
  • Runs Cool, between 30-33C on Idle and up to 44-46C on full load or gaming
  • No Overheating issues
  • 6 GB LPDDR4 RAM and fast 64/128 GB UFS 2.1 Storage (3x faster read speeds compared to eMMC)
  • Comes with the latest Oxygen OS 5.0.3 (based on Android 8 Oreo)
  • Stable, fast and clean system, no bloatwares
  • Gorgeous 1080p screen, Super AMOLED Optic screen has excellent contrast and image quality
  • Great camera performance especially on good lighting, low light shots look amazing as well
  • Can shoot 4K @ 30fps and 1080p @ 60fps with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization)
  • Front facing camera can shoot high quality 1080p videos with EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization)
  • Surprisingly fast and reliable Face ID Unlock (combo with Rear Fingerprint ID)
  • Excellent Connectivity (Dual Band Wireless, NFC)
  • 3300mAh Battery with Dash Charger (5V 4.5A), charges in less than 90 minutes

Cons:

  • No MicroSD or Memory Expansion Support
  • Price
  • Some may be put off with the 1080p screen
  • No FM Radio
  • Camera UI lacks customization
