Hello, i just want to share a guide on how to root phones powered by MT6589.
Most of the phone released as of data are powered by MediaTek MT6589 Processor. If you’ve bought from FCT, noticed that they charge extra for rooting. Here is a guide that found and want to share to help you in this matter.
This thread is not new and this method worked for several individuals who successfully rooted their phone. Rooting, basically is synonymous with JAIL BREAK, grants you super rights to make changes or install apps that you is not applicable with non rooted phones.
According to publisher, it worked for his Star N9500 MT6589 and is expected to work with most similar devices.
The tool is design for Motorola phones, but it still worked for MTK6589 powered phones.
1.Download this file to your PC.
2.Extract the entire contents of the zip file. (place on desktop, easier to find)
3.If you are using Windows, ensure you have installed the latest MTK USB drivers available for your phone. You need to install also the latest Motorola USB Drivers available (can be found here (pdaNet, Moborobo)
4.Ensure USB Debugging mode is enabled on your device. (settings, debugging enabled)
5.If you are using Windows, navigate to the extracted directory and execute “run.bat”. Consequently, If you are using Linux or OS X, navigate to the extracted directory in a terminal and execute “./run.sh”.
REMEMBER: future updates or upgrades may remove this ability, so you need to repeat the procedure again.
