Hi Vincent — I’m glad to have bumped into your blog and your reviews on the china mobiles that are available. I’m actually quite interested in these iphone clones with the android OS and as I’m a huge fan of android but also a fan of the iphone hardware if you know what I mean.

I have a quick question for you; of all the iphone clones is the Thunderbird I5 LTE the only metal body unit? How about the Goophone I5 Plus or Pro? are the Goophone’s “metal body” construction as well ?

Also do these iphone clones have the option from the start in using android look and feel instead of the iphone OS launcher style ?

I would greatly appreciate your response. And again thanks for your time and valued reviews you have presented so far on your blog.

Regards,

Caesar Ortiz

Goophone i5 Pro (MTK6577 dual core 1.2 ghz, 512 mb ram, android 4.0, 8.0 megapixel camera, 0.3 megapixel front facing camera, dual sim, 3000mAh) (164.99) dollars

Goophone i5 (MTK6577 Dual Core 1.2 Ghz, 512 MB Ram, WVGA display, 8.0 megapixel camera, dual sim, 1440mAh) – 159 dollars

Hi Vincent,

I wanted to buy a smart phone so can you let me know the genuine dealer from china from whom I can buy a Quade-Core smart phone. Dont tell me to buy from http://www.fastcardtech.com/ because its reviews on internet are bad.

Vincent on January 30, 2013 at 8:11 am.

hello nick,

i buy my products from fastcardtech, honestly, they’ve been supportive and regularly answers my enquiries and request for my orders. for example, recently i just ordered an neo smartphone, but in the last minute i requested them to change it to hdc galaxy s3 i9300 ex which i use right now, and they just change them and delivered. i think whats important is to ask them and ask them alot, because from my experience language barrier really is the problem, they have shaddy english and often doesnt answer your question, but you should ask them on easy to understand questions, misunderstanding is sometimes the problem when dealing with dealers from china, ive also read experience from other dealers from china with the same experience. Although, all i can say is that fastcardtech is not a fraud and they do deliver geniune products.

for proper ordering of your products of choice, here’s my list of what to do:
1. ask them first if the product is in stock, available (what color, memory, etc), and is it ready for shipping. because most of the time, they presell products even though the products are still not available, kind of reserve.
if they say yes, then you can now order,
2. when you order, clearly write your address for proper mailing to prevent lost mails, as well as use EMS, its much safer and i highly recommend, i’ve got mine through my post office, i called them once in a while to check for packages,
3. in terms of payment, they usually prefer western union or money gram (there is a discount when you use this mode of payment)
4. track your packages ems.com

hope this helps,
best regards,
vince

Your site is excellent and you seem to have a good grasp of what is in the market. I wish I had found this site earlier as it would have saved hours of research.

Where are you studying. Have to say your command of HRH tongue is very good and although there are some spelling errors your grammar suggests you are well educated.

I also like how you have set your site out and categorized all the products of interest and the useful support information you have included.

I know you probably send alot of business fastcards way and I hope they give you some goodies for your efforts.

Well done and keep up the good work m8

Ciao,

Cordiali saluti,

Hi

I have bought a new W11 32GB phone a month ago
I have 2 issues with it
1. It restarts automatically from time to time with no notice
2. The media sound is too low even after changing it via engineering mode as I read in some websites

Do you think that changing ROM may help?
Can you recommend a ROM that supports Hebrew language?

Thanks

Shlomi

Hello Shlomi,

I believe you only try flashing the phone when you have exhausted all options and have determined that it has nothing to do with hardware.
2. can you confirm what phone are you using? what is W11?

Hello
I am buying a new phone. I don’t want to spend fortune on it so i decided to buy a chinese on. But here comes my problem. I am already buying it for 2 weeks now haha. Beacuse i can’t decide which one to take. So i came across your site and thought if u could maybe help me. I am looking for a note3 clone. But every single one on the internet has his disadvantage. I would really like it to have 2Gb Ram(can be more :P), quad or octa core CPU, 1920×1080 resolution, Stylus pen, android 4.3, NFC support, LTE support, smart pause, smart scroll… But I can’t find a phone tht would have it all. So i would be really happy if u could find me one. Or at least that it has most of that things. It can also be any other phone with all that features like S4 or any chinese phone.
Thanke you very much
Best regards

Hello Jake,

Choosing the right phone really is very taxing and often frustrating because there’s so many to choose.
Thing’s you should know about China phones
1. No 4G or LTE Support yet, only supports 3G via WCDMA frequencies (make sure your area supports the frequencies), Data speeds up HSDPA+ Speeds
2. Octa Core MT6592, is relatively new, but according to benchmarks it can perform head to head with the big boys (Snapdragon 600 and 800). However, 3D performance is not very convincing, it lags behind in this category.
here is the link: http://www.chinasmartphonereview.com/mt6592-vs-snapdragon-800-duel/
3. Usually most China phones have Android Softwares that are not very well optimized, so you might encounter some bugs
4. For Note 3 Clones, the only octa core is HDC Galaxy Note 3 Sunny, but its not yet available, Another Octa Core you can check is Zopo ZP998, and ZOPO is a good brand,
5. Most Galaxy Note 3 Clones are manufactured by HDC, you can check out several of the reviews.
6. NFC Support, you can seldom see phones who have this, ZOPO ZP998 has this, other don’t have.
7. Most only support Gesture

correct specs: MT6589 @ 1.2 GHz, 5.0 inch IPS 1280 x 720 pixels (no gorilla glass), 1 GB RAM, 4 GB ROM (1.5 GB usable), you could try No.1 S6, its almost the same with this one.

Hey Vincent, I hope you can help me out a little bit.
On a recent trip to China I bought an S4 clone, I saw it works on a Chinese sim card, but now that I’m on my country (Chile) the phone catches a signal (movistar) and I even get the company messages that welcomes me to their service but I have no internet connection and I can’t make or receive calls. I thought that maybe the OS is wrong or defective so I’ve spent the whole week trying to find out the real brand and model of my clone on order to choose the correct new rom.
Right now I’ve made some progress, I realized that the info that is displayed on the phone is fake but I’m still not sure on what to choose.
My questions to you is: do you have any ideas regarding the connection problems?
and how can I choose the correct rom?
Please tell me the info you need to send it to you.
Thanks a lot and I love you blog, it helped me a lot

Hello Felipe,

you could try and ask the frequency supported in Chile, usually china phones support the following frequencies, for 2G: gsm 850/900/1800/1900mhz and wcdma – mostly 2100mhz and sometimes 850mhz

Hello, My name is Qadeer and i am from india.
I am interested in buying JIAKE X3s.

Firstly I would like to thank you for keeping up such a great website. Nice information is available on this site.

Can you please help me with this information.
I see that Aliexpress is selling this phone for 125 USD? Can i trust this website and buy?
What is this phones Antutu rating?
I am not able to Find JIAKE official Website and Customer Care service center. Please Help me with this

Thanks.

Vincent on March 1, 2014 at 11:03 pm.

Hello Qadeer,

In terms of performance to battery ratio
MT6577 dual core chipset —— Performance relatively between 5000 to 6000 points in antutu
MT6572 Dual Core (new dual core clocked at 1.3 GHZ) —– much better power consumption and performs much like mt6589 Quad core (scores between 10000 to 110000 points in antutu)
mt6589 (first quad core of mediatek) ——- ok in terms of battery consumption but does get hot often especially when used heavily (but i’d rather get the next chipset)
the mt6589 was followed by the mt6589t or turbo (which is a slightly upgraded chipset), not by a whole lot though, its fast but not super fast, a meager 2000 points update from the regular mt6589 quad core.
mt6582 (new quad core clocked at 1.3 GHZ) – budget quadcores, excellent battery life, made for lower resolution display, fast, more of a midrange device, scores about 17000 to 18000 on antutu which is impressive.
Finally, the mt6592 (mediateks newest CPU to hit the market and you can see their chipsets almost everywhere) used by either budget or much more premium hardware devices, fast, scores similar to the snapdragon 600 found on the Galaxy S4 which is about 24000 to 26000 points. Very good battery life, although its not well optimized yet in terms of android operating system and if you are not a heavy user, you will not see much difference with the mt6582 as well as the mt6589t performance. Although it still lacks polished, its still fast, and the new king of budget CPU’s.
to answer your next question, the jiake x3s is powered by mt6592, and usually prices for those phones dont go well below $150. You could also try merimobiles, COOLPAD is one of the biggest China mobile manufacturer, http://www.chinasmartphonereview.com/coolpad-f1-8297-octa-core-175/

Vince
