The UMI Super is itself categorized as a High Midranger, and shares the market contenders the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. The specs itself is fairly similar to the Note 3 with a minor difference on the Chipset department, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 uses a Helio X10, as opposed to the Helio P10 and 4 GB RAM of the Umi Super. By design, the Helio P10 is a slightly slower variant but does improve in the battery department, as claimed on paper. But one thing is for certain, it is far more powerful than the mainstream MT6753 we commonly see nowadays.
So what can you expect on the new UMI Super?
The design promises to be more polished and will surely be of Premium Materials and build quality. It is a 5.5 inch device equipped with a SHARP IPS Screen and a 1080p FHD display, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. At the rear is a Panasonic 13 mp Sensor with Dual LED Dual Tone Flash, with Zero Shutter lag and fast autofocus. However, there is still more to be known with regards to how much better the sensor is compared to SONY.
The phone will also come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and will said to have a skinned UI version but I think it will be similar to the UMI Touch. Also listed is support for OTA Future Updates.
Foxconn USB Type C?
Another noteworthy addition is USB Type C connectivity, and it is said to be manufactured by Foxconn. A great plus for this Port is also the support for Quick Charging. Compared to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, which only supports USB 2.0. The UMI Super with it’s 4000mAh battery can be fully charged within 100 minutes.
Great Battery Life
Another aspect that UMI is endorsing on the UMI Super is with regards to Battery life, as stated, the SONY 4000mAh battery will offer about 2 days of continuous usage, and about 5 hours of intensive use. UMI has demonstrated this on the video below for your reference.
A great contender to the Mid-range Category
Especially against the popular Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, the UMI Super on paper does edge it on some areas, namely the USB Type C Support and also Android 6.0, which is said to be natively installed on stock. But in terms of Camera, I can’t attest whether the Panasonic Sensor will be much of an improvement. But I do see that the Umi Super will be a popular choice for budget consumers. The Helio P10 especially combined with a 1080p display is enough for intensive tasks and games and the phone in terms of features offers everything you want on a device. The UMI Super has also addressed battery life and even boasts even more juice compared to the UMI Touch.
Another contender? The Ulefone Future, the specs are indeed identical with the the UMI Super, the phone also comes with Helio P10, 4 GB RAM, USB Type C but has a smaller 4000mAh battery. The handset is also regarded as “Truly Bezel-less Display”
